The Severn Valley Railway operates 16 miles of the former GWR Shrewsbury to Kidderminster line which closed to through traffic in 1963. Starting in 1970 with the Bridgnorth to Hampton Loade section, the SVR re-opened in stages, finally reaching Kidderminster in 1984 where a new station was built on the site of the old goods yard.
